Corvin Press

Victoria, British Columbia

A small press for books that could only have been made this way.

Corvin Press publishes photographic and illustrated fiction from the west coast of Canada — books built out of real places, real animals and real events, told in voices that are entirely their own.

Our first series

Adventures of Zuzu Pazzuzu

Photographic fiction · Ongoing

Zuzu Pazzuzu is a rescue cat in Victoria, British Columbia, and the narrator of his own life. The books pair real photographs with real events, and hand the telling to Zuzu himself — inquisitive, pragmatic, opinionated, open-minded.

He surveys his territory. He negotiates with the wildlife. He works out, slowly and on his own terms, what it means to trust someone — and how a cat grows into the comfort of having a home.

A cat does not need a plot. He needs a territory, a routine, and somebody willing to write it all down.

About the press

One series today, a short and deliberate list tomorrow.

Corvin Press is an independent publisher based in Victoria, British Columbia. We began with a single series and no intention of rushing past it — the point of a small list is that every book on it gets the attention a book deserves.

We are building toward two shelves: photographic and illustrated fiction, where the images carry as much of the story as the sentences do; and management philosophy — plain writing about how people actually work together.
